Rings & Rain

Posted by Jessica Anderson on January 29, 2013 at 8:50 PM

The thought "Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore." has come to mind a few times this week. I live in the Midwest so the weather here swings and shifts like it’s a tango dancer.... it’s just par for the course.

Last year we had one day with 70 degree temps in the morning and then snow that afternoon. This week has had no shortage for odd weather….

I don’t want to be the person who raves about the weather, so how about a chance of subject? My ring! My wedding ring to be exact. Here are the rings that I have had all these 6+ years of marriage. I love them, truly, but it was time for a change!

…. Sorry for the crappy phone pics but it’s what I had to work with at the time.

And here is the new ring! I found the ring (minus the center stone) at a local family run jewelry shop. The ring is an antique, not sure from when exactly, and then I had my original stone set into the middle.

I love the details, the slight signs of ware from an unknown previous owner, I love the crown detailing, and the fact that it looks so lovely! Old and new(ish) combined into something totally original and totally mine!

The title of the post makes a little more sense now doesn’t it lol!

Specs – Center stone is just a little of one carat. White gold. Surrounding stones equal about ¾ total of another carat. Age: unknown.

Have you ever changed, or considered changing, your wedding ring? I was nervous at first but am totally in love with it now!

I recently looked into upgrading my ring. The ring and the enhancement my husband bought weren't part of a set, so they don't go together. They look together alright, but when we had the jeweler solder them together, they didn't FIT together, so now there's gaps. I don't like the gaps at all, but my husband was horrified at me wanting to get a new ring. :(
