Bronzer & blush redo

Posted by Jessica Anderson on February 3, 2013 at 7:20 PM

Do you daydream?

I do... a lot!

I like to pretend that the ocean is just out of view and that summer is just days away.....

Obviously both things, at the moment, are 100% not true and I am in fact lying to myself all the time. I live in grand ol' Missouri and it is the February 3rd... not by the ocean and not summer...

But ya know what? It helps me get by.

Dreaming about sandy beaches, waves crashing on the shore, and the warm summer sun is what helps me make it through the day.

Something that I miss using on a daily basis is this bronzer. I know that it's an odd thing to miss but I love the warm matte glow it provides and the lovely chocolatey scent. During spring & summer I wear it every single day.

As you can see, I all but totally used it up this past summer. I realize there is barely enough left to use realistically.... but I can't part with it.

I need it..... like I need warm sand, sunny days, and the wonderful scent of the sea...

So what's a girl to do?! Instead of trashing my beloved treasure, I decided to give it new life.

I dug through my old makeup stash and found some stuff to combine with the bronzer, everything gets a 2nd chance this way!

You can do this with bronzer, blush, and powder OR you can also mix up random 1/2 used or broken eye shadows to give them all a new life.

Supplies:

- Something to mix/crush up all the powder

- Rubbing Alcohol

- A container

Get out all of your powders, knock it all loose, and smush up any clumps...

Next give it all a good mixing and then add the rubbing Alcohol. Really you can't add too much so use what you think you need to in order to get it to a tooth paste consistency. It will all totally evaporate so don't skimp!! You need to make sure it is all TOTALLY mixed up and one solid mass. If you don't and there are clumps or air pockets this will be a potential issue down the road - meaning that with clumps and/or air pockets it has a greater potential for cracking or shattering. I have had this happen to me before and it's no fun. Again to fix you just follow the original instructions all over again. Do it right the first time so you don't have to waste time doing it again.

Now it's going to look like a big ol' pile of poo at first......

Gently tap it on a table or on your leg for a few mins. This will help get any air bubbles out and it will help even it all out.

I let the container sit open over night to air out and dry up, once about 12 or so hours have passed you should be able to use it with no problems.

Now my beloved bronzer has a new look. Instead of being mattee it now has rosy shimmery tones, which will help brighten up my pasty wintery face (lol!). Here is a fairly good shot of what the color really looks like.

So before you chuck out your half used or broken makeup try giving it a mix up! It only took a few mins and didn't cost a dime!
